Clinical Scenario
Chapter 18, Scenario 01

Review the clinical scenario presented and respond to questions.

In order to remember her computer password, the new staff nurse taped the password to the back of her name badge. She recently lost the name badge, and it was turned into the hospital, with the password still attached. When she was contacted to pick up her name badge, the Information Systems department cautioned her about using a smart password and changing it periodically. She expressed intent to use the same password. Is this an appropriate way to treat a password? Should she use the same password again? What are the implications of her attitude about the possibility that others might have access to her password?
