Clinical Scenario
Chapter 10, Scenario 05

Teresa is a single mother whose 3-year-old son Jeremy was just diagnosed with mild persistent asthma. Jeremy attends a day care center 5 days a week while Teresa works in a beauty salon as a nail technician. Teresa and Jeremy had lived with her father who had helped with child care, but he died of pneumonia last year. Teresa and Jeremy continue to live alone in the two-bedroom apartment near the train station in a metropolitan area. Develop a teaching plan to include objectives and content on asthma, environmental modifications, use of the nebulizer and pharmacologic agents, and monitoring, including a schedule of follow-up visits to the clinic.
