Clinical Scenario
Chapter 10, Scenario 02

Review the clinical scenario presented and respond to questions.

James is a 68-year-old home health client with brittle diabetes who lives alone. He and his wife retired 3 years ago from the school system and moved to a home in an active retirement community. However, Dorothy was killed in an automobile accident 2 years ago. James used to play golf three days a week, but last week he experienced syncope in the clubhouse. You have visited James three times in the past month, but he continues to be noncompliant with his diet plan. Develop a lesson plan for your next home visit focusing on both diet and exercise. Consider the use of behavior modification techniques. Include in the plan behavioral objectives, a content outline with appropriate teaching methods, and a plan for evaluating learner outcomes.
