Interactive ExercisesChapter 02, Exercise 04: Time Plan
This exercise is designed to help you assess the timing and balance of activities from a weekly perspective. At the beginning of the week, write all planned activities in the appropriate hour or half-hour intervals. Schedule all activities, major or minor, including time for meals, errands, travel, recreation, and so on. Be realistic in planning, and allow for flexibility.
As you finish each day, record the actual activity performed next to the planned activity in each time slot.
At the end of the week, analyze the time frames.
What activities took more time than planned? Why?
What activities took less time than planned? Why?
What patterns were noticeable during the week?
Which activities were not planned in writing?
What surprised you about your actual use of time?
How will you change planned time for activities?
To assess how you are spending your time, print and complete this form for 1 week. You may make as many copies as necessary.
