Dossey delivers an exquisite and timeless classic on the life of a nursing icon.

Philadelphia, PA, August 3, 2009:  Florence Nightingale: Mystic, Visionary, Healer by Barbara Montgomery Dossey, published by F.A. Davis Company, describes the life and times of the extraordinary women whose passion, dedication, and determination helped to shape the course of modern health care.

This lavishly illustrated biography celebrates the life and work of Florence Nightingale on the 100th anniversary of her death. With meticulous scholarship, the author documents the struggles and achievements of a woman who defied the conventions and standards of Victorian England to blaze her own path. Archival photographs, drawings, letters, maps, and a riveting narrative create a portrait of this complex, larger than life woman who is still a source of inspiration today. Her vision for all that nursing could be is a vision to which nursing still aspires.

Florence Nightingale: Mystic, Visionary, Healer is available in a standard edition (ISBN 13: 978-0-8036-2169-5) and a deluxe edition (ISBN 13: 978-0-8036-2282-1) which features gold-gilded edges, richly colored endpapers, and a satin bookmark finely bound in the deluxe cover. Both editions of this book are available at bookstores or directly from F.A. Davis Company. For more information call 215-568-2712 or visit www.fadavis.com.
